Living in a secular culture as a Christian is a difficult thing. Temptation and compromise lurk around every turn as we are bombarded by strategic attacks form the devil and his demons. Before Lucifer (the devil) fell from grace, he was the chief musician among the angelic hosts of Heaven (Ezekiel 28:13; Isaiah 14:11-14). Having such a knowledge of music and of the sensory dependence of humans, it is no surprise that the devil employs a war strategy against humanity through the creative arts (music, art, dance, writing, etc).
Because we are under such an attack daily, it is imperative to mount an offensive campaign to combat these demonic forces that work through the creative arts (Ephesians 6:10-13). If we stand against these forces and claim the arts for Christ, we can deal a devastating blow to the hold of the devil over our generation and claim a victory in the Spirit that overcomes all things (Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 12:7-8).
If we support and commission the artists of our generation, utilizing the gifts and abilities that they have been equipped with as instruments of creativity and war, we can and will be victorious. We encourage the creative to express themselves and the Spirit within them through their creativity as a glory to Yahweh and as a declaration of the intricacies and beauty that He has created in them.
Project:Ignite’s arts campaign, Shekinah, is geared towards “taking back the arts” from demonic control. We operate this campaign by playing local concerts, sponsoring local art displays, and promoting dance and video teams. Through these events, we aim to take back the arts as a source of top quality, encouraging, and glorifying creativity.
